Comments
Comments: Micro'd to about 1800' and then switched to snowshoes. Not super icy, you could skip the spikes or just start in snowshoes, which you will definitely need. About 3/4 of the way to start of EH 'whack met two folks coming down who had camped out. They said they had skipped EH on the way out but had broken it out on the way back. I thought they said they had taken Isolation trail up to Davis. The route through EH is a little lower than optimal but not bad (pic in link below, if you click on the map right under the title you can see the Iso Exp route), I tried to straighten it out here and there, mostly successful. Lots of moose tracks and scat. When I got to Isolation trail, I saw Iso Express route (basically straight across Isolation trail where the EH whack comes out) was unbroken, so figured I'd rather do the extra mileage and go up the Isolation Trail to Davis following the route of the other 2 guys. They unfortunately had turned around at the last crossing of Rocky Branch. I figured if I was going to break trail up to Davis I might as well do the Iso Express route, so I hiked back to where IE would start. At that point, I was pretty spent and hadn't been feeling 100%, had left my inreach on my other pack, no sign of anyone else hiking Iso, so decided to call it a day. I see 413 broke out Isolation Trail up to Davis, but most likely Iso Express is unbroken.
