Going up Falling waters was mostly packing powder. Microspikes were nice here. The ridge approaching Lafayette was mix of wind blown slab with area of deep drifts, mostly compacted with foot traffic visible. Trail was not visible going up Lafayette with ice cover blanketing cairns and trail signs. The cold, wind and lack of visibility around Lafayette made it challenging to up and down off summit cone, until Greenleaf hut was visible. Had to check GPS to confirm location a few times. Trail toward Greenleaf was a mix of loose and packed powder. Used microspikes/ snowshoes. Greenleaf to parking lot was packed powder with a little rock exposure. |
