Beautiful winter wonderland conditions. Put spikes on right away. Used snowshoes on the way up between Rowe and Gunstock since I was starting to posthole. There were more rocks/narrower trail closer to the Gunstock summit (that felt like the longest 1.1 mi ever, maybe bc it was my first time using snowshoes this season), so I ended up carrying the snowshoes on the way back and not needing them since things were more packed down by the few people I saw and my snowshoe track. Was surprised not to see the lift running. Benjamin Weeks trail had less snow by the end of the day, I kept my spikes on but it was just a thin cover. |
