Was thinking, based upon the melting snow around town, that I'd be able to bareboot or Microspike up the access road. Nope! Took about three steps and then went back for snowshoes.
Generally about 6 to 10 inches of snow, with a crust over the top down low. I stuck to the UTV tracks on the access road, which were adequate packing for snowshoe use. A couple of waterbars with slush, otherwise generally a granular snow down low with some powder in places up high.
Looks like the adjacent hiking trails (Brook, Ridge) are littered with postholes.
Probably the last day for awhile that the access road will be doable, as the snow guns are hosed up and crews are prepping for snowmaking.
Sunny morning with temperatures in the 30s. |
