All hail the return of the Snow Miser! Hurrah! No golden ticket for us behind two skinners so that helped. Very dry fluffy powder that is not going to consolidate - WEAR YOUR SNOWSHOES - it's the only way you're reaching the summit from here. Tons and tons of pow, 1-2 foot base with deeper drifts. I went in over my waist. This pow is absolutely amazing and was really fun in snowshoes. Very spicy above 5400 feet today, we followed the Cog in its entirety for safety sake. I cannot imagine why we saw no one today with -15 wind chills and ~38 mph sustained winds (According to MWOBS at our summit time). Ran into Santa at Waumbek Station, I brought him down some coal I dug out. He got a kick out of that - "SANTA I WANT TO RETURN THIS GIFT FROM LAST YEAR!" Very much no nonsense up there today. The rime ice was absolutely amazing all around the summit. Less than twenty foot vis for a time made it even more challenging! A little different then the t shirt I wore last week... |
