Comments
Comments: Interesting day and trail conditions! The trail heading up to Pierce wasn't too bad. Not enough snow to wear snowshoes and the snow was a bit wet, so just stuck to my spikes. Once I got to the summit, of course it was completely socked in. I considered heading towards Eisenhower but it didn't look well traveled or broken out at all and it was a bit chilly. I opted to head to Jackson and stay covered by trees. The trail from Pierce to Jackson was blowdown and heavy, icy trees covering the trail central and will probably only get worse with the storm coming. I wore my rain jacket to avoid getting soaked from the trees I had to crawl under to get by. Summit of Jackson was absolutely beautiful, it completely cleared up and I wore my spikes heading down just to avoid slipping. Overall a good day, will be interested to see how the trails look after the storm tomorrow.
