Trail is in good shape, but I want to comment on one place. Coming down below the open ledges, there is this place where the trail takes a sharp left turn off open ledge into the woods, and there is a small cairn there, along with old paint blazes. Despite having mentioned to others on way through this point on the ascent the embarrassingly too frequent missing of this turn on the way down, we did again miss it, and quickly ran out of "trail." Backtracking a bit, we found the obviously well-used and very short bushwhack (sort of) that cuts quickly over to the main trail. What is needed here, perhaps a bigger cairn right in the middle of the "wrong way" past this turn, with a painted left arrow? |

On the ascent, we saw a pair coming down with a group, all excited upon greeting us and having a great outing themselves. |

Nice short-notice hike for four of us OTHH, on a totally clear day in late November. The trail had a couple of steep sections in the low woods that still have large leaf collections obscuring the footing below and requiring caution on the descent. Up high, in that short stretch back in the dense trees a little below the top, there were a couple of muddy spots, easily handled, and just a couple of icy spots, easily avoided without traction. |
