Our objective was to get to the base of the big slab. Light dusting of snow here and there on the Livermore Tr. After the crossing on Mount Tripyramid Tr the snow depth increased, up to 3 inches as we started the steep climb. Bare-booted until we detected ice lurking under the snow, so on went the spikes. We continued a bit further then hit some spots where it seemed like going up would be fine but coming down maybe not. I'm guessing we were about 1/10th of a mile from our desired endpoint. Probably could have made it but I just didn't xant to risk a fall. Leaves and snow were balling up underfoot until we got back to Livermore Tr. and spikes came off. Overall a very nice hike not too cold and not too windy in the woods. Didn't see anyone until we were nearly back to the car. Track is public on Gaia. |
