Comments
Comments: Very nice intro to winter hiking right now. Below 2800' it's just leaves and rocks, mostly wet. A good freeze and the wet rocks will be icy so ymmv. Snow starts to spackle in >2800' and well before you get to the ridge you'll want spikes. Snow depth is 0-4" on the ridge and between the North and South peaks, but ice crust on ledge is very common and often not avoidable. Not a lot of leaf litter going up Bicknell Ridge, but kind of a constant nuisance on Slippery Brook. Didn't want to tempt fate by going up the ledges to South, but met a group who said it was ice free and dry. I 100% did not see if for myself so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Saw only the one group on the Circle. Went up Eastman for a Kodak moment (hah!) and that was more of crowd (4 people) favorite. Bare booted Eastman and down Slippery Brook no issues, just the same caveat regarding wet rock after a freeze. Enjoy!
