Comments
Comments: Conditions: Zealand Rd. walk was hard packed snow. No ice to speak of. Easy bare-boot walking on snowmobile tracks.

Hale brook was consolidated with a firm base. About 1" of fresh powder covering bare boot track. Stream crossings are snow-bridged over. No blow-downs. I took my snowshoes for a ride today. Hillsounds worked great from the Hale Bk. trailhead to the summit and back. The side hill traverse section, which could be tricky sometimes, has a nice flat track through it. The whole hike could have been bare-booted today, but I like the added traction. I had the trail to myself today. Only a few people out on Zealand Rd.

1 degree this morning at the trail head, 35 degrees 4 1/2 hrs. later. Nice warm sun with no wind and bright blue sky.
