Valley Way was well packed out all the way to the hut with a couple icy sections but easy to navigate. Wind packed from the hut to Madison.
Gulfside to Airline was barely broken out so snowshoes would have been helpful for the ascent of Adams but we left them in the car.
Airline was not traveled alot to the summit but mostly windpacked with a couple inches of fresh snow.
Great day out with Hank and Mike under crystal clear skies. Wind chill above treeline was about -30° with a constant 30-40 MPH wind. Goggles and Balaclava a must to avoid frostbite. Saw about 8 people out on valley way and a group of 5-6 on the summit of Adams as we ascended the Airline. I believe they came up Lowes path. Perfect Presi day!!!!! |
