Found 12" uprooted fir in woods near 1986 bog relo, to replace 1995 wood steps just downhill of it in May. Solid crust, best bushwhacking conditions in years. |

| Comments: |
About 80% of hikers wore microspikes, the rest crampons. Ice flows everywhere, 1" spikes worked much better than micros. I think Katoohlas, Hillsounds, etc, are shortest spikes for safety in these conditions. |
