Comments
Comments: Well, sometimes things don't go as planned. Crawford Path to Pierce was a breeze on microspikes, packed powder all the way. After that, things changed. Winds on the Ridge were fierce but manageable until finally getting above tree-line on the shoulder of Eisenhower. Had put on shoes at base of Pierce as the trail was drifting in. An intrepid sole I never saw had continued barebooting and apparently did so all the way although I never saw him/her. In any event, The winds were fierce when I finally ascended above the final cover of spruce and I decided to turn back. Eisenhower was in a cloud and the trail behind me was rapidly filling in. Some hikers, three sisters, who I had passed on the way up were at the base of Pierce when I came back and they elected to turn back also.

I went over Pierce and onto Jackson uneventfully, the trail packed powder with a couple of inches of fresh powder on top. A little drifting of no significance. The pop up onto Jackson was short and intense, with howling, cold winds. Met Georg and his eager companions, Emma and Toby as I summitted from the North and he from the West, both equally frozen.

Once off the peak, we flew down the Jackson Brook and Webster-Jackson trails on packed powder. Awesome day although wished I had gotten Eisenhower. Oh well. It giveth and taketh away...
