Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The first two crossings of the Little River have been ignored by hikers through the use of the bypass path. The third crossing was easy on an expansive ice/snow bridge just upstream from the official crossing. One bare boot hiker used the "tree bridge" to cross the river. Minor brooks were easily crossed.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail in generally good condition. Only a few downed trees which presented no problems. The Forest Service warning of the undercut banking (pink tape)has been ignored with no adverse consequences so far. May become a problem during the Spring thaw.

Comments
Comments: The snow was very hard packed. The snow depth was only a few inches on the forest road leading out of the parking area, Haystack Road, and the North Twin Trail in the River Valley. The snow depth increased on ascension of the ridge to North Twin. At the end of connector forest road (open gate) turn left on to Haystack Road (sign for no snowmobile zone on Haystack Road).

There was at least one bare booter who occasionally sunk in to the snow when at the margin of the footway. There are a few side hill narrow shelves in the river bypass section of the trail which pretty much held their integrity today. The outlook ledges on North Twin were free of snow but had some ice. The trails were broken out to South Twin and to Mt Hale.
