Zealand Trail is choppy but fine. Twinway has a good snowshoe track all the way to Zealand Summit. Zealand Road is a little choppy in places, no solid snowshoe track, just a lot of bare boots indents, ski tracks, and snowshoes. As of early Saturday afternoon A-Z, Ethan Pond, Zeacliff, Lend-A-Hand had not been broken out.
A group of five guys said they might head to the summit of Guyot so between Zealand and Guyot may be broken out. Snowshoes were needed above hut, did see plenty of people bare boot to hut, but I would go with snowshoes from a mile in on Zealand Road. Exhausting but fun day, broke trail above Zeacliff, crusty snow with powder underneath, never knew how much you would sink down, sometimes almost none, other times a half foot to a foot. |
