Comments
Comments: Other than some drifting on the ridge between the two peaks, solidly packed powder was the name of the game. I passed a large group of hikers on the steep section approaching E. Osceola and they were all wearing crampons. I decided to stay in ascent mode on my MSR's and see how they handled the steeps. I think I must have hit the conditions just right because I did not encounter any ice the entire way up. In fact, I made it all the way to Osceola proper and back to the steep section descending the East peak and found the same group still struggling up in crampons. I believe I was lucky today to have conditions that favored the ascent style snowshoes. 4+15 round trip.
