Snowshoes car to car. Bike path packed out by snow mobiles. Bushwack had 6-8 inches of fluff on soft base.
Liberty Spring Trail had been tracked out yesterday and had a few fresh inches over base that increased with elevation. Softer above campsite.
Once to the ridge snow depths increased quickly..around a foot heading to Liberty with deeper drifts. A blast dropping off the backside towards Flume in untracked light fluffy powder. Once the climb up Flume started snow depths got deep. At the last hundred yards or so trail corridor filled in with up to chest deep drifts..took some work but trail soft packed until the next winds which will fill it back in again I would guess. Fast trip back to Liberty on beautiful soft packed snowshoe track.
Barebooters had made it as far as Liberty wading through knee deep snow..Could not have been much fun. TRail pretty solid to the campsites but above there snowshoes the only way to go . Lots of snow. Nice to run into Tim C on descent. Fluffy and fun day out with Valerie |
