Comments
Comments: 4-8 inches of new snow over a packed base the whole way. there were deeper and more heavily loaded sections particularly on the ridge and some nice drifted sections up there as well. real great snowshoeing. there is still not enough snow to cover up all stumps, rock, roots, etc. so caution is still needed not to catch a shoe particularly on the descents, though for the most part is was a nice cruise. another group of 3 were doing the loop as well behind us so there should be a good showshoe track after today.

we wore snowshoes the whole hike and they should be the footwear of choice up there for a while.
great day for the hancocks. was still snowing hard when we started the hike this morning, but soon stopped and gradually began to clear providing some nice warm sun and good views from the various outlooks. one of my favorite winter snowshoe hikes. thanks to cynthia for a nice day.
