| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
One hop-over and one duck-under on Garfield Trail, but otherwise it's in great shape. We observed that it isn't well-blazed,not that it's a problem. Lots of evidence of Irene's wrath, but all nicely cleared. |

Saw two dogs coming down the trail - they appeared refreshed and frisky. |

| Comments: |
Perfect winter hiking day - 20-degree high, blue sky, low wind. Found a sheltered spot on the summit and were able to enjoy a 15-min. lunch without freezing. We were amazed to see that the lower parts of Garfield Trail are practically snow-free. Hard packed trail, spikes all the way (cached snowshoes at the switchbacks). |
