Comments
Comments: There was no snow until we were about 2 miles up Blueberry Ledge Trail. We put on spikes at the Tom Wiggins junction and kept them on until the ledges. The first difficult ledge was dry, so we barebooted until the 3rd set of ledges and spikes went back on due to snow and ice patches. The ridge walk to Passaconaway was firm, but many deep postholes. We continued with spikes and the snow remained solid. The steep hike up to Passaconaway had nice packed conditions with very few postholes. The trek down Dicey’s Mill was a mix of soft snow, postholes, exposed rocks, mud. Before reaching the river crossing, all the snow disappeared for the last 2 miles out. Spikes went on and off three times during the hike. It was amazing to see so much bare ground and 2 to 3 feet of snow still remaining on the ridge.
