Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes, Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Very easy crossings
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A couple minor blowdowns in parts where I am not even sure if the bootpack is on the actual trail
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Our malamute and malamute/husky did pretty well. They were cold when we stopped for lunch on the col, so I think any dogs with a lessor coat would have had trouble in this cold. The less seasoned winter hiker of the pair had major problems with snow balling sticking to her paws. The other knows how to maintain them herself as she goes.

Comments
Comments: There was a very nice snowshoe track for the whole hike. We bare-booted for the first 2 miles but opted for snowshoes for stability and traction. Saw lots of post-holes in the col, but were no bother to us. Saw lots of people struggling in the steeps portion of the hike who were bare-booting. Butt sliding on the way down was the method of choice, and was super fun.

4-6" of snow coverage at the base, and somewhere around 16-18" at the summit. Things are getting pretty filled in. I think that after the next significant storm it will finally be time for me to break out the ski touring rig.
