Probably 10 small stream crossings, some had snowbridges, some were open. Snowshoed through all of them today. |

None. One tree across the path looked like a blow down but I removed the heavy snow and it sprung up just enough to get under, right near the summit. |

I read that someone had broken out the first mile and a half of Hancock Notch trail so I decided to try and finish what was started , and I was successful in breaking it out to the summit, solo. I took my snowshoes off for the steep last half mile and was only post holing to my knee, even though I was sinking about that deep in my 28 inch snowshoes. I wore the snowshoes on the way down and also used a sled. It took me almost 5 hours to reach the summit so I didn’t have energy for more trail breaking to do South peak. A very satisfying day anyway. |
