Comments
Comments: There were plenty of people out on the trails today enjoying the first Saturday of "real" winter hiking. A few of inches of fresh snow at the lower elevations and then maybe six inches at the higher elevations. We were the first group to hit the trail and broke it out to the ledges below Passaconaway, where we were overtaken by another group that broke the trail out Whiteface. A third group had broken the trail out to Whiteface. We used crampons at the ledges - not enough snow for snowshoes and not enough ice for crampons. Others did manage the ledges in snowshoes.
