Comments
Comments: The blue trail is blazed in blue and the yellow trail in yellow. Some blazing looks fresh, others were more faded. I don’t recall frequency (I think it was somewhat regular) but I did find it obscure at its start on my return trip. I don’t recall a jct with a green trail at 0.1mi but the turn off the road and onto the footpath and the jct with the yellow path are primitively signed. I don’t think there were any more blowdowns beyond trivial stepovers.

1st redline of the day. I lucked out and it didn’t really rain much at all on me but it was very, very wet and muddy. The old road at the start was, as advertised, incredibly wet. On my way in, it was still quite dark and I didn’t use a headlamp and just sort of followed my nose and was fine. On my way back down, it was light and I somehow got a little off trail. It was blazed but not sure how frequent it was. Following the route described in the guidebook is very easy though; just be sure not to miss the Yellow Trail on your way back down which is needed for redlining. No view from the top as we were in cloud. The route switchbacks so much and some have made herd paths to shortcut it so beware of that if redlining. The trail is mostly very gentle and the gain in the reverse direction didn’t feel very noticeable at all. Gaia had me at 3mi, 425ft of gain, 1hr10min.
