Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: nothing of note but I'll get into that more further on
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Brook trail is in the worst condition I've seen it in years, good chunk of it is badly washed out and people just make their own trails off to the sides which just make the problem worse. Water management on the trail is particularly poor which further contributes to excessive mud, water and general roughness of the trail.

Comments
Comments: took Mt. Major trail up. It's generally in fine condition, some areas of mud, snow and ice but nothing too bad, doesn't seem the like ground has quite fully softened yet. The final steep climb up to the summit is particularly bad with plenty of ice, I managed it fine without any traction aids but you might want something. Took Brook trail down, bar far the worst condition I've seen it in the past few years. If you actually stick to the official trail (which is seems most people don't) the trail is very washed out and rough, plenty of flowing water and some mud. Almost no snow and ice though. Lots of challenging areas trying to figure out your footing. Typically I'd recommend Brook trail to someone looking for an easier way up Major but I don't think that's the case anymore- Mt. Major trail is the safer bet, in my opinion.
