Comments
Comments: Very little snow below the gateway. The flats had ice (and a dusting of powder), but were barebootable.

The middle third of the trail is covered in blue ice. Microspikes were adequate today, but crampons could be required if the ice changes texture/hardness.

Starting near the gateway, snowpack went from 0-2" to 6-18" One could snowshoe the upper 3/4 mile of this hike right now, but it's packed out just fine (with the exception of some drifting on the Eisenhower Loop) for barebooting at the moment. Some drifts are three feet deep above treeline. While there's still some rock exposed, I'd personally carry snowshoes for any extended treeline travel in this area, just in case.
