Terrific afternoon hike. My favorite route to Bear - such pleasant woods and wonderful snowshoe track with minimal postholes. Once on the ridge, the Elwell Trail was a bit crusty - I still punched through with snowshoes but had good traction up the steeps. Around 700' vert overall and about 3mi RT from car. Good views through trees and of trees. |
