Comments
Comments: Gale River Road and Gale River Loop Road were icy with a thin layer of snow. Truck had driven over road to the Littleton Water Works.

The first three miles of the Gale River Trail had a light covering of snow over ice or leaf litter. The reported muddiness of the new section of the Gale River Trail was not a problem due to the frozen surface.

The snow increased in depth on the ascent to Garfield Ridge. The snow depths on the upper Gale River Trail, Garfield Ridge Trail, Twinway, and Frost Trail were sufficiently deep to cover most rocks. Used microspikes throughout the hike which proved to provide enough traction.

All paths in the snowy areas were well travelled so the footway was solid (no postholing). Lots of hikers out today including some staying overnight at Garfield Ridge and Guyot campsites.
