Comments
Comments: zealand road had a couple inches of powder over ice. this was pretty heavily tracked by the time i hiked out.

the trail had very little snow low with a couple inches over bareground, ice and crust. depth increased with elevation and the trail became a bit less bony above the switchbacks. still no more than a few inches in the footbed except for some drifting around the summit. ended up ditching my snowshoes in the woods partway when it became clear they probably wouldn't be used and used hillsound spikes which were a bit too aggressive on the trail for my taste, but worked great on the icy road.

good hike. woods were nicely laden with fresh snow up high. a bit cold and breezy on the summit, but generally nice temps for walking today. nice running into sandy and crew along the way. great to be out.
