Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Still some open flow to be rock hopped.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail was a nice wide trench much of its length with no real problem blowdowns although there are some soup strainers up on the ridge. On a less windy day I would have had the saw out and in use.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: There were two very small slush spots and a couple stream crossings with open water that I tried to keep the mighty tough little dog out of to avoid icey paws. A little work going up to N. Hancock but the rest of the time he had a ball.

Comments
Comments: I bare booted in like others had been doing until I ran into a snowshoer on the way up N. Hancock. I don't know why I waited so long. It was great snowshoeing across the ridge and on the return. Beautiful day although up on the ridge there was a chilly wind, especially around S. Hancock where it forced me to put on a balaclava. The trail was drifting in on the ridge quickly in places. Didn't see as many people hiking as expected from the full parking area. Always nice to have the trail mostly to ourselves but still get to greet a few hikers who we've seen before. Pepper and I were delighted to see 3 of them including the Awesome 2 again.
