Hiked up ski trail to avoid water crossings. Started late 12:30 (RAIN ENDED) 2 inches of wet dense snow on ski trail. Once at outlook broke entire trail to summit. All rocks were covered with 8 to ten inches of wet snow.
Snow depth was 12 to 18 inches with 3 foot drifts the last 2 tenths. A long hard grind that took us 3 hours to arrive at the summit. SNOW SHOES CAR TO CAR...SNOW SHOES A MUST!
Trail section from parking lot to outlook is NOT broken out. Only saw 4 skiers and no hikers. Tough day in the mountains with my main squeeze. |
