Comments
Comments: Barebooted until I reached the hut, then switched to spikes. The entire trail is pretty broken out; I had no difficulty finding the path (which hasn't always been the case given previous winter Zealand hikes I've done). The toughest part are some of the water crossings are running fast and high, some of the rocks have black ice, and a lot of the ice on the surface isn't strong enough to hold any weight. So you gotta pay attention to what you're doing.

I saw one set of tracks that went past the summit, so I would think a Zealand-Bonds traverse is doable right now. Get 'em while you can!
