Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Gale River Road closed. Lot at the western end of the Gale River trail was filling up fast as we started off at 8:00.

Surface Conditions: Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Wet Trail, Ice - Blue, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Lower crossings were only partially bridged and were best crossed with slightly wet feet. Upper crossing was crossed with the help of two small trees laying across the brook. 
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One medium sized blowdown within the first half mile of the Mt Garfield trail otherwise in pretty good shape.

Comments
Comments: The lower half of the trail was a mix of mud and ice-microspikes were a good choice here. The second half was packed powder, which balled annoyingly on the spikes. Snowshoes not necessary yet. Felt more like April than January. Thanks to Ed and group for a very enjoyable day.
