Comments
Comments: Well went out for some punishment today. It was very very very boney out there today, completely different than yesterdays hike. I barebooted until the crossing but Suzanne spiked. Once at the crossing we met Donna and Dick and Eva! We all crossed at the same location and I was hoping to put on snowshoes but nope… lots of running water on trail and not enough snow. It made for a very annoying time. About 1 mile from the summit I put my snowshoes on when there was finally enough snow. No views at the ledges and then over to the true north twin summit. There was some frwsh snow the entire time from 4” down lot to maybe 6” up top not including the knee deep drifts. Also all the frozen trees are not moveable and push you around quite a bit. We were heading up south twin when Alex and Matt came at up! People!!!! Yay we all had snowshoes on and we all helped each other with that. If I could think straight I would have swapped car keys for them but I was focused on my cold toes. We hit the windy but now open south twin summit and turned back around finding happy eva and people heading on still. Soon we hit Alex and Matt again and made it back to North Twin. Coming down we kept the snowshoes on a little longer but when we hit the boney section… no way we could have done it with them on. Back to the spikes! This was awful and very ankle breaking. Finally back to the crossing with no issues and then to the new re-routed trail. Made it back to the car and off we went to concord for food!
