Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Ye olde trashbag method worked today. I wore them and absolutely destroyed any remnants of usable snow bridges by accident. I ended up helping a fellow pair of gridders and walked back over, gave them spares, and came back. So I crossed it three times and remained dry!

Comments
Comments: A FINE day in Henry's and George Van Dyke's woods where had. This will be superseded by the storm tomorrow night, but if you don't post, God will kill a kitten. Trails where in far better shape than expected, which isn't saying much because we expected them to be pretty crappy. We put spikes on across the bridge and kept them on until just after the water crossing. See notes above, the trash bag method is clutch and avoids hunting for a spot to cross, I have done it so many times before, just don't care to worry about it. We met Gridder #13 at the crossing, and seemingly taught them a new trick :) From here, we donned snow shoes which stayed on until our descent of Galehead. About 2800 its noticeable that it fills in and about 3800 its snow shoe heaven. We are very thankful for George and Gemma yesterday who laid out a spectacular track with just two folks. Lots of snow in the col between north and south, as usual. Forgot how long the approach is to NT from this side, but we got there. Lots of snow laden trees. George's report from yesterday was spot on, it looks as though a fresh dusting of snow up high, and lots of consolidation down low. No real issues across the ridgeline except for two bare booters who did a number in spots, but was smoothed out by atleast 4 sets of snowshoes so there should be a great base. No issues going up Galehead, could be done without snow shoes but we kept them on. Took snowshoes off at the bottom of the steeps on GRT. Ran into Just Melissa, like Prince, but Melissa, in the morning, and on the way out. High traffic on Gale River. One set of snowshoes and two post holers came from Garfield so that is rough broke. All in all a good day, and twins/gale for g2 in December!
