Comments
Comments: A FINE day in the forest for a nice long walk. Headlamps to start and finish is the true test of an adventure. This brings me to 71/72 on the TW72 list. Trace to minimal snow on Polecat. They are blowing and trying to open this week - that seems like a pipe dream as its bare ground at the summit chairlift and grass is still visible down low by the lifts. Trace to minimal snow on Wildcat Ridge, but plenty of ice. Especially on the initial descent of A towards the hut. No real issues ice wise surprisingly going up to Carter Dome, where there was a collection of 4 grid finishers and others with some serious accolades attributed to them! Nothing really too too bad until the descent of North Carter, on the northern side. That has some serious pucker fest ice - you are very likely to leave a skid mark. SERIOUS flows over here! It's not for very long but its a tricky section. On and off ice to Moriah, the chute up from the Kenduskeag junction is actually ice free at present. We kept our spikes on to just below Surprise on the way out. This will change Tuesday with the snow, but mainly wrote it to just let people know of the ice that will be under the snow. Our now rockspikes could be heard in regards to November, "ANY TIME I COME HERE, I GET ABUSED"
