First time up the back (northwest) side of Tecumseh, up Mt Tecumseh trail from the Tripoli Road parking lot. Really nice trail, with a great little ridge walk just before the summit, and a few restricted views. Overall more pleasant and more fun than the usual ski-side ascent. Snow cover from near the trailhead, maybe 4 inches plus ice up high. Microspikes most of the way. A few step spots, before the ridge and especially the summit cone, that might be challenging in microspikes once snow fully covers the rocks - for this trip it was straightforward. |
