Trails
Trails: Mt. Osceola Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Tuesday, October 24, 2023
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I accessed the trailhead from Waterville Valley due to the bridge closure, but I drove Tripoli Road back out to 93 on the way out. I think the bridge may only be closed when they are working on it, and I finished up around 5:15.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant, Leaves - Significant/Slippery
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None of note
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: No big issues, but there are some paths starting to form around the mud pits.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Mine had a great time. Plenty of water available. The trail is very rocky (especially to East) so make sure your dog's paws will be OK with the exposure. He had fun on the scrambles and did fine on the Chimney bypass.

Comments
Comments: I took a break from tracing trails to work on the dog's NH48 and I decided to take advantage of Tripoli Rd while it was still open.

I don't have much to add on to nordic_gal's report (nice to run into you on the trail!), except to note that the bridge MAY be open outside of working hours if you want to ride Tripoli Rd instead of 49.

There was also a Blackhawk helicopter doing touchdown drills on Osceola, which was really neat to see. Better than other reasons you may see a Blackhawk up close in the Whites, I guess? :)
