Conditions: New fresh power. About 3" down low to about 6" higher up and across the ridge. The trail is starting to get filled in nicely. Some ice under the snow in places. The most ice was on Liberty summit with some gusty winds today. Once in the woods, the wind wasn't a problem. Flume had less wind and the sun was trying to peek out all day.
Most of us today, wore either Hillsounds or Micro-spikes the whole day, while one wore snowshoes the whole day. We all carried snowshoes and crampons, but the spikes worked very well today. Stream crossings were no problem. A few duck unders and walk arounds. We saw two others who came up the Osseo and two who came up the slide using Micro-spikes. All in All a great day out with Hiker Ed, Jim T. Guy J. John & June (of J&J fame), and Paul S. |
