| Comments: |
Minimal natural snow on much of ski area. Aside from the very top (leading to Upper Lynx), Polecat has not seen any snowmaking yet. Generally 1-2" of powder. Occasional blue ice. Probably barebootable to the top of the ski area, though I opted for Microspikes.
Took bushwhack from top turn on Polecat over to Wildcat Ridge Trail. Was able to Microspike the entire Wildcat Ridge, but some may prefer crampons. 1-3" of powder on top of a blue ice and frozen granular base - snowpack overall ranges from 3" to maybe 10". Would probably carry snowshoes for the ridge once we get one more storm.
Perhaps half a dozen scrambles along the ridge are coated in blue ice and are thus very tricky with Microspikes. |
