Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Unplowed lot but with my summer tires (long story)I got up into it okay but I wouldn't have been able to squeeze into a spot between cars easily. Only a few cars there today.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Ice - Blue
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Rock steps
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One major blowdown complex between the peaks. It's been there for awhile and the trail path now swings around it.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Pretty easy day for the mighty tough little dog, although he benefitted from a couple butt shoves on the chimney bypass, and he did get his paws wet in the numerous running drainages and a couple small brooks down low. He met Kally and the Snow Monster both happily enjoying their hikes with their humans.

Comments
Comments: We let the wind chills forecast divert us from a Presi hike, only to find very little wind on the Osceolas. There was a modest amount of powdery snow to start and it pretty much never got to be more than a few. We carried snowshoes, barebooted to the Chimney (it slowed us some but added a bit of adventure), put on Hillsounds for it and kept them on for most of the hike. They were just right and the hike down was pretty easy despite significant ice under snow on the steep sections below East Osceola. We met five others on the trail, 3 in crampons and 2 in microspikes one of whom briefly used snowshoes between the peaks and was glad to get them off.

What a wonderful day it was, the views were splendid, the woods were a winter wonderland, and the hiking partners the best. Thanks Pepper and Erica.
