Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: We saw two on the trail, but I would not bring a dog up the flume slides. Maybe a small or very agile dog. Not my 90lb Golden Retriever who can do most everything. One of the dogs looked scared and was slipping and shaking trying to go up the slides. Sad

Comments
Comments: Oh my gosh, what a wonderful hike! Counterclockwise as everyone says for sure. The flume slides are not nearly as bad as people have said. Tough - yes. Treacherous if wet - probably. Go down them - no thank you (you'd be crazy). Take your time and think about where you're going and it'll be fine. We had perfect weather (thank you mother nature). Fairly flat for the first 3.5 miles and then basically up, up and up. Until you pop out and are there. The Flume views were fantastic, until we went over to Liberty and that's just about as good as it gets. 360 degree panoramic and dramatic. We were fortunate to see the miliary practicing maneuvers and flying through the valleys. Fun to watch. The path down Liberty Springs is a nice change from the way up. Overall wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.
