Peaks Mt. Flume, Mt. Liberty, NH
Trails
Trails: Lincoln Woods Trail, Osseo Trail, Franconia Ridge Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Monday, July 24, 2023
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I arrived at the Lincoln Woods trailhead at about 7:30am and the parking lot was maybe 25% full. There were 15-20 cars out along the Kanc from overnight hikes over the weekend but lots of space in the lot.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Maybe 5-6 blowdowns along the Osseo Trail (some kind of old, some pretty fresh). All were very passable.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I saw a couple of dogs that seemed to be having fun. This is a nice hike for dogs.
Bugs
Bugs: Generally, the bugs were very manageable. There were a couple spots where they were (briefly) active...the summit of Liberty (Flume was fine) and about halfway down the Osseo Trail. I didn't have bug spray on and they didn't get bad enough to convince me to stop and get the bug spray out of my pack.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found:

Comments
Comments: Other than some (easily avoidable) muddy sections in the col between Flume and Liberty, this route is in pretty good shape after all of the rain we've had. Only some erosion in some of the steep spots near the summits, but the bulk of the Osseo Trail is perfect.
