Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: No one at the Tunnel Brook roadside off Long Pond Road. Two cars at the Glencliff trailhead with plenty of room for more.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The crossing near the start/bottom of Benton was an easy rock hop. There were two crossings on Tunnel Brook that didn’t have an obvious dry way across, so I waded through. All other crossings were fine.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: All trails were in excellent condition, except a section of Tunnel Brook near the mud ponds that was severely overgrown. It was hard to see the trail while barreling through tall undergrowth, some with thorns.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Didn’t see any, but they would be fine on these trails.
Bugs
Bugs: Not an issue until I reached the ponds on Tunnel Brook. I didn’t bother with spray today.

Comments
Comments: A counterclockwise loop up Glencliff to Carriage to the summit, then down Benton, and back across to Tunnel Brook. A short road walk between Glencliff and Tunnel Brook. Glencliff is your typical AT trail with lots of rocks and very little soil. The Benton trail was nice and very different from Glencliff due to its light use. Going north to south, Tunnel Brook begins as a forest road. Alert! I missed the turnoff into the woods and, fortunately, the forest road loops back to the lower end of the Benton trail, so I had to do that section and the forest road walk twice. I was not pleased. The sign is on the right of the road at a point where the road takes a wide left turn. I must have been looking ahead at where that turn went to the left and not for the sign on the right the first time. The sign is in the woods, but I should have seen it.
