An early start today led to some solitude and spectacular views over to Mount Mansfield and Jay Peak. I wore microspikes for the whole hike as most of the trail was covered in ice. The ledges below the summit required care going up and I slid on my butt coming down for some of the areas to prevent a fall. Some may feel the need for crampons. It all depends on comfort level. Coming down I passed about 10 people going up. It was nice to have the summit alone. |
