 | Water Crossing Notes: |
We were so thankful that levels had lowered! Rocky Branch Crossing at jct of Rocky Branch and Isolation Trail: Not sure if a dry rock hop was possible, we just waded through and it was mid-calf deep. Not bad at all. The other Rocky Branch crossings on Isolation Trail (East) were fine - possible to rock hop. For the Dry River crossing on the Dry River Trail north of Dry River Falls, we didn't see a safe way to rock hop, but wading was totally fine. The crossing of Parapet Brook on the Great Gulf trail was dry rock hop. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The upper part of Rocky Branch Trail had running water on trail, as expected. Isolation Trail and Dry River Trail had tons of mud and running water too of course. We were very thankful for all the blowdown clearing done on the Dry River Trail! Thank you! The top of the Wamsutta Trail is super overgrown in the scrub - very pokey and hard to get through! |

What a trip! At 99% now for redlining! Wahoooo! Been wanting to do this route for a long time, and thankfully the week of dry weather made it possible! We were expecting the worst, and were pleasantly surprised that none of the major river crossings were an issue at all. Lots of running water and mud, but that was to be expected. Our only regret was that we made this trip our dear friend's introduction to backpacking in the whites. It was a doozy for a newbie! Not to mention that her pole snapped and the soles fell off her shoes! What the heck Merrell!? We barely saw anybody on our trails, but saw lots and lots of people out at Lakes of the Clouds and at the junctions of Tuckerman's and Lion's Head. Gorgeous views. It was so nice to hike in the SUN! |
