Road heading to and from blueberry Pick ur own fields was in pretty good shape; gravel covered in sections and all bumps were clearly marked. We picked up the trail where it crosses after going over Pitcher Mountain (decided to avoid that section as literally busloads of pedestrians were heading up when we arrived!) The trail was fairly well-used and after about .5-.75 mile, it rejoined the road to the blueberries. Once we arrived at the blueberry fields, the road continued for a bit then branched off through the fields more towards Jackson. We were amazed at the endless views of blueberry fields! We also passed the halfway point sign of the Greenway: 24 miles each way. Once through this section the trail descended gradually through woods to a col then joined an old woods road heading towards the summit of Jackson. This section was moderate to steep the higher we got. Just short of the summit, it became trail again covered in knee high grass. Great views from the top! Back down we went. We'd seen a road on Gaia that parallel the trail then headed straight for the area just below the blueberry fields. After seeing an unofficial trail heading in that direction, we decided to take a chance. Lo and behold! We found the two-track (as many know, Gaia roads are not always reliable so ...) and headed back towards the Angorra Forest Road. This little stunt managed to shave off .8 miles of our return trip. Great! As it was starting to get bit hot out! Once we saw a blaze and the road we followed it back to the parking lot and the car. |
