Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Both stream crossings will get you wet. They're not likely to sweep you away, but you'll be wet. However, both can be avoided. As you approach the first crossing, take the obvious herd path on the left. It will bring to you the snowmobile trail. Turn right and cross the bridge (wood deck, very slick) and then see the Garfield Trail shortly thereafter. To avoid the second crossing, continue on the snowmobile trail for another 50 yards to a second bridge. About 20 yards beyond that bridge there is a much less obvious herd path on the left. It starts with a short scramble up a muddy bank, but it is discernible for about 300 yards until it hits the Garfield Trail above the second crossing.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Several blowdowns - all stepovers

Comments
Comments: The Garfield Trail was a river today. Often times, especially down low, it was very muddy. Higher up the water was running down much of the trail. Dry areas were few and far between and not long. The sun broke through as we reached the top around 11:30, so the views of Owl's Head, the Twins, the Bonds, and the Franconia Ridge were excellent.
