 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Baldface circle Trailhead lot on Rt 113 was full upon arrival at 9:30am, we were second car to park on road shoulder, several more cars along road in p.m.. Pit toilets available in lot. |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
|
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Rock hops, water levels were fine in this area for easy rock hops. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
A few blowdowns on Slippery Brook Tr, stepovers, except for a twin birch that is tall for short legs to manage, so a herd path is forming around it. Most were in last mile before junction with Eastman/Baldface Knob trails. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
These trails are fine for dogs, ample water right now. Saw one happy dog today. |
|
 | Bugs: |
A couple deer flies, a few mosquitos. Not bad, but we bathed in deet. |

 | Comments: |
Goal was the Baldface Circle Loop today, but fire smoke haze and less than epic views made us hold on that and just do Eastman, and save the Baldface loop for a clear day.
Despite a full lot we only saw three others on our route, so folks were out there somewhere on other trails.
Many brightly colored mushrooms on the forest floor, only flowers seen were those of a small mint-looking species.
Water is flowing off the mountain, channelized and not. Despite this, larger streams were not dangerous, so rock hops were easy. We scoped Charles Brook levels anticipating a loop, and that one was fine for rock hops too. Wet and muddy trails, waterproof boots were helpful. |
