Comments
Comments: We didn't know the Jewel Spur was closed, spent 45 min. + searching, finally descended from upper lot and used the lower Jewel Trail. Good footing below treeline, but above treeline, new snow made footing treacherous in the powder, difficult to follow the actual trail, foggy, breezy, very cold. Due to late start, poor condition, risk of postholing in unbroken powder snow we gave up approx. at junction of Gulfside, chose not to risk injury in very poor conditions. It was the right call.
